Rarities of Fauna:

  • 8 species of woodpeckers: Grey-Headed Woodpecker (Picus canus), Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis), Black Woodpecker (Dryocopus martinus), Three-toed Woodpecker (Picoides tridactylus), Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopus major), Middle Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopus medius), White-backed Woodpecker (Dendrocopus leucotus), Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopus minor);
  • Unique incidence of owls within a small area: Ural Owl (Strix uralensis), Eurasian Pygmy Owl (Glaucidium passerinum), Tengmalm`s Owl (Aegolius funereus), Tawny Owl (Strix aluco), Long-eared Owl (Asio otus);
  • Unique incidence of eagles: Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), Booted Eagle (Hieraaetus penatus) – the only nidification place in Slovakia;
  • Aesculapian Snake (Elaphe longissima) – our longest snake – lenght up to 2m;
  • Butterfly Alcon Blue (Maculinea alcon), whose caterpillars live on flowers called Marsh Gentian (Gentiana pneumonanthe) and in ant-hils of European fire ant (Myrmica rubra) and Myrmica ruginodis – only two incidence in Slovakia;
  • Corn Crake (Crex crex) – Europian endangered species;
  • Rosalia longicorn (Rosalia alpina);
  • Brown Bear (Ursus arctos).

Rarities of Flora:

  • Siberian Iris (Iris sibirica);
  • Marsh Gentian (Gentiana pneumonanthe).
